fill selectbox from value of another selectbox

Hi there,

i got the following situation:

for a fill form i get all countries of Europa into a selectbox. The data comes from a MySQL table.

What i would like to acchieve is that when the user selects a country, all cities from that country will be passed to a second select box.

There are about 80.000 cities, so i would not like to pass the whole city table as an array.

Also, a page refresh is something i am trying to avoid too,....

Does anyone have a magic trick for this one?

If you're trying to avoid both of those, then your answer lies in a non-HTML program. Something like a Java applet, or a Flash program can solve your problem.

If you want to keep it within HTML, then you either have to refresh the page, or load all the cities into one array for JavaScript.

you sure those are all the oppurtunities left,..... if so i think the pagerefresh is the fastest one,... really try to avoid java whenever i can.

Flash can call a MySQL database,... you got me curious here 🙂
