I talked with some people about BLOBs and I still wonder what I could really do with a BLOB. Why would I need a BLOB for my application ? First I thought about using BLOBs to handle a gallery of pictures, someone asked for it a few days ago so I finally decided to test it. I got a working application, get the scripts from here:

It's a very basic application, upload image & thumb, view the gallery.
In my opinion MySQL is not meant to handle pictures as blob, read the end of the post for more information. So I wonder if anyone uses find a real life use cases for BLOBs. Someone told me he uses BLOBs for a medical application he developed, to handle the scanners... But I still think MySQL + file system is better.
What do you think ? Do you often eat BLOBs in the morning ? :p
