Comparison Table

I am new to PHP and having some problems. What i want to do is build a webpage that will allow users to compare to different cell phones side by side. The user would pick the phones they want to compare and then they would be placed in a table on the page. The problem is I have no idea where to start. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Im nowhere near new to PHP so ill tell you how i worked on getting better at it.

I would recommend learning all basics before taking your first project. Learn how to add/edit/delete records in a database. Learn how to do it with text files

from there learn your select statement with Mysql.
Your very important WHERE statement.

From there your first project the comparison table should a be a breeze

Thanks Planetsim. Can you reccomend a few books that are comprehensive, yet easy to read. Or maybe you know of a few websites that would be a good place to start.

seriously.. go through it.. LOTS of helpful articles etc.

I learnt by reading other php scripts..s tarting with basic ones to see how they did what they did.. then working my way up.. then using all the little bits of knowledge to plug together my own scripts.

My code is very messy and probably not the most efficient, but that's what i'm learning now thanks to 2 good books:

Well ive never actually bought a book. Although they are really good. I cant actually learn from them. It shows from my school results.

Wrox Books ive heard are always very very good. There is one at SitePoint thats advertised which you can get the first 4chapters of.

I suggest going through books that you have been recommended and see if you can understand what they are saying. Only then will you find a book to suit your needs
