Mysql Structure...

Hello, I have a quick question about the mysql db structure.
I am working on a top listing program.
So that people can add items to a top 10 list from the web.

I it to where you can add the info to the db from a form.
And it will display it....

But it displays like this...

Artist #1 | Song #1 | Artist #2 | Song #2 etc etc

I am trying to get it to do more like...

Artist #1 Song #1
Artist #2 Song #2
Artist #3 Song #3

It just seems that I dont understand the sturcture of the mysql db yet... anyone have any good links that might help tech about that?

I don't understand the problem you are having, unless for some reason you are concerned with presentation in the data layer.

Hello, The data is all going into one field...
the columns in my db look like this...
ID | Title 1 | Artist 1 | Title 2 | Artist 2 |

I would like it to be.....

More like this....

A column name Artist....
and under it
Artist #1
Artist #2
Artist #3

And a column name Title....
and under it
Title #1
Title #2
Title #3

But I am getting it all in one field....

I know... this is hard to explain....

Database normalization is needed here - the current design is not useful for what you are intending. You would want an ID to correspond to an artist.

artists
artist_id
artist_name
...

songs
song_id
artist_id
song_name
...

SELECT artist_name, song_name
FROM artists a INNER JOIN songs s
ON (a.artist_id = s.artist_id)
ORDER BY artist_name, song_name

would give you rows

Beck | Devil's Haircut
Radiohead | Amnesiac

More formatting has to be done in a script.
