Code Help plz!!

I am trying to sort users by the points they have in a ranking system. I know how to sort the users by the number of points they have, but how to I get it to number each row with their row number, because that is what their rank will be.

I just need to know how to get the number of their row in order to give them a rank, please help !

Have a counter that's increased in your loop.

e.g.

$counter = 1;

while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) {
print $counter;
print $row['name'];
$counter++;
}
