Hola,

In 1999 we wrote a very condensed 4-page PHP cheat sheet with everything we needed on it. We were too busy building multimillion dollar sites to market it.

Does any one know if any one is selling such a product? If so, please let us know so that we do not duplicate effort.

Well, we still have a dog-eared hard copy rough draft of it kicking around the office. We code in different languages all the time so we need a little sheet to check syntax as we switch among C++/Perl/Java/Python/AWK/SED/grep...

We were wondering if any of you would be willing to take the time to polish it up - it needs to be put into pdf, too, so that we can sell it. I did all the grunt work. We tested it internally and still use it regularly.

I personally spent a tedious three weeks on the thing so I have an interest in making a buck out of it.

Probably want to ad an XML parsing section, though. I could provide the new code for that.

We could split the profits depending on how much effort you can put into typing it up from the hard copy, checking it, updating it, purdying it up, putting it into pdf, and selling it. just make sure there isn't already such a product out there before starting (and let me know please)!

It would simply be sold on line, not through a bookstore. We're familiar with publishing and it's not worth it to just do one little title through a bookstore though we know how to get ISBNs, bar codes, laminate....laminating is real expensive so probably just an electronic download format is best. The user can just make a copy when the original gets cruddy.

Anyway, it has good PHP-Oracle code such as how to get metadata for a given Oracle database when you don't have the right to get into sqlplus and of course PHP-MySQL code. I always use this code when starting on a new existing project so I don't screw up the database - no one tells me what's in there and I need to make sure what triggers and foreign keys there are...

Also, it answers the questions newbies have on forums. Staff every one gets stuck one and posts "PLEASE HELP" about.

It was made for pros switching to PHP for some projects and not for students learning to program for the first time. Really a good reference.

If interested in helping out please send me an email. We're going to do something similar for Java which language we use most of the time these days.

In addition we would be happy to provide a good professional reference for a job well done.

Im sure people are interested. But no one is gonna be prepared to pay money for something that is already free.

also, the countless number of PHP books accumulating at amazon.com is huge, phpbuilder being the great resource as it is, its just like one of the PHP books at amazon. unless you have a book that is exceptional from all the others your not going to make much.

        Thanks for the feedback.
Where is the free PHP cheat sheet chart?
I would like to see what it looks like.
I have too many books with fluff in them for Java and I don't want to hog up more space/pay more money for thick PHP books and have to flip through pages. I know how to code. I just need something very compact where I can see the syntax for the particular language. I don't want to buy a PHP book or carry one. Just a thin 4-page chart is perfect for me. The one I made a few years ago we still use but if there is another one out there that's better we'll switch to that.
The chart could be downloaded online and so need not cost more than $2.

well if it was $2 i would probably buy it. but then you have the problem with so many people buying it, it would most likely become readerly available on P2P programs

            Thanks,

We got someone to collaborate on this.
If lots of people P2P it then so be it. At least it would then be a marketing tool to get the collaborators more business and a published item to their credit.

We're now looking for s.o. who knows Quark or another software like that to purdy up the reference chart after we've added XML processing and other updates to it. We never touch graphics design at Javamint.

If you know of anyone interested, particulary a graphics designer who can do Quark or that sort of thing needing a published work to their credit or a free advertising vehicle, please let me know.
