UPDATE without changing TIMESTAMP

can someone please indicate me a method of updating without changing the TIMESTAMP??

just update every field with the UPDATE statement and don't SET the timestamp field over, no problem

I'm not sure that will work. According to the manual:

Automatic updating of the first TIMESTAMP column occurs under any of the following conditions:

The column is not specified explicitly in an UPDATE statement and some other column changes value

If you want to keep the Timstamp the same include it in the UPDATE statement something like this

UPDATE sometable set
somecol='New value'
Timestampcol=Timestampcol

PS:

(if your timestamp column is named 'timestampcol'. you'll need to change the name accordingingly')

Also, mysql only updates the first timestamp-column in a table. An old trick is to add a second timestamp column. That way the first column indicates the time of the last update while the second doesn't change unless you change it.

I guess that 'time' is your TIMESTAMP column? If so, your code should work as you want it to...instead of updating the time column with new values, it will keep the timestamp from when the record was first created.
