Newbie needs help !

Hi, I'm new to PHP so would appreciate your help.

My website has a whois checker that runs without problem.

I now want to integrate the results into my existing shopping cart.

I've set everything up except one item which I need your help with -

I want to set up a script that checks the domain extension ([>EXT<]) and, according to it's result, sets another variable ([>PRICE<]) to a set value. i.e. I want to be able to set the price value according to the extension variable returned.

I don't know how to set up this script and therefore would appreciate any help at all.

this allows you to get info on remote host:

Perhaps I didn't explain the problem very well - so I'll try and explain in more detail.

The whois checker I've got running searches obviously for an available domain. The domain name is tagged as [>DOMAIN<] whilst the TLD extension (.com, .co.uk etc) is tagged as [>EXT<]

I want to link a price or numerical value to each TLD extension so that when someone finds a suitable available domain , they can order it from my site.

The shopping cart I'm using can accept the [>DOMAIN<] and [>EXT<] no problem but I need to add a price.

So, in essence, what I'm looking for is a script that looks at the [>EXT<] and compares it with a list (.co.uk, .com, .org, .net, .tv, .info, .biz, .org.uk etc). According to the result of that comparison, I need to set a value to a price variable (something like [>PRICE<]

That's what the problem is, and I don't really know how to go about it.....

don't you use a database to make a price_table with

fields

extID (Optional)
ext
price

.... and then

query = "select * from price_table where ext = \"$tmp\"";
$result = mysql_query($query) or die("Couldn't get price data");
   while ($myrecord = mysql_fetch_array($result)) {
      $price = $myrecord['price'];
}
print "your price is  $price";

Hi m2m,

I have order form with whois ability. The problem is that the whois only search .com/.net/.org domain ext.

How to make this whois have ability to search other domain ext like .info/.biz or other country level domain like .uk/.id/.de ?

I'm newbie on php so if you or someone on this board can help me, please do so 🙂
