why the filesize of uploaded file is smaller than source file???

I use copy() function to write a upload program.
i test it under Windows2k IIS +php4.2.3 platform and the file can be uploaded normally , and the filesize is right.

but i run the program under Redhat linux 8 (Apache 2 +php 4.2)
the copy() function returned a 'sucess ' vaule for the upload progress. the file can be uploaded to the destination directory, but the filesize is smaller than the source file(in my local computer). the filesize is only 1/5 to the source file.

why???
what's wrong? my program? php settings? apache settings? or linux settings?
what can i do to solve this problem???

When you say 1/5 the size do you meant most of the data is missing? Or the data is all there but in a smaller file?

i try this program on another Redhat Linux Server (Redhat 7.3)
PHP Version 4.1.2
Apache/1.3.23

the file can be uploaded successfully and the file size is correct.

so it must be apache 2 configuration error , or PHP4.2.3 settings error

can somebody help me to find out the error settings?
