server/dns question

Hello,

I have Apache, php, mysql installed on my windows xp machine and I was wondering if it is possible to get a domain name to point to my ip address?

Yep. But, you need to nameserve it.

That means you need to point the domain name to name servers that will translate it to your IP address. Your ISP will almost derfinitely NOT do this for you. There are free DNS services out there, but most of them you need to pay for.

Have a look at http://www.dyndns.org .
They do free 'webhop' redirection - you define a subdomain on one of their domains - and then install an auto-update dns client that sits in your systray waiting for your ip address to change and then updates their system with your new ip. You can also update your ip address manually.
