Problem: Running mysql

Hi Plp,

Ok here is the problem. I just installed MYSQL on my PC (running OS 98). But when I try to run it i.e (c:\mysql\bin>mysqld --standalone). I get an error saying...."c:\mysql\bin>mysqld.exe: Fatal error: Can't find messagefile 'C:\apache\mysql\share\english\errmsg.sys'...."

Any Idea where am I going wrong or what the problem.

Need some HELP!

MySQL can't find 'C:\apache\mysql\share\english\errmsg.sys'
Does this file exist?
I think you did install mysql to "C:\apache\", didn't you?

Hey Hand,
The thing is that Installed mysql in c:. And yes the file exists....in [C:\mysql..etc]! I don't know why[C:\apache\mysql..etc] is shown in the error msg. Is there a problem with mysql or something else. cos I tried installing 3-4 times and it still gave the same error msg.

Did you copy my.ini to windows system directory?
Try to start mysql using C:\mysql\bin\winmysqladmin.exe
Does it work?
