PREG_REPLACE -- help please

Ok, I still haven't figured this function out yet. So can someone please show me how I can do the following?

Change This:

To This:

<a href="http://thisismylink.com" target="_blank">http://thisismylink.com</a>

--basically just make the text between the "LINK" tag a hyperlink. I also need code to do the reverse as well (go from an HTML hyperlink to the first code)

NOTE: The URL doesn't necessarily have to start with http://, it may just be [LINK]hello[/LINK]

I am getting a parse error:

Warning: Unknown modifier 'L'

AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO FIX IT . . .

now how do I change it back from the <a href> to the [LINK]....thanx.
