Is there anyway to check the PHP.ini file to see if specific extensions are installed or not?
Just outta curiousity, what extensions are you talking aobut?

I don't know what you mean but you can run following script to get all informations about your php installation:
<? phpinfo(); ?>
Then Hand's phpinfo() suggestion would work for you.
