MySQL/PHP Question (please excuse my ignorance but im so new im squeeky)

Hi all.

I have been messin around with PHP/MySQL and i have a question. how is it that i code php to automatically display something from the MySQL database without running a search. Whut i mean is, when the page loads the info that iks in tha database is displayed on the screen, no queries. Is this possible?
And then from my one html page have different links to thos php pages?

All of the tutorials and such that i have seen on tha net have been to make application that the viewer of the site has to run a query using a form or such. Like i said i am unknowing in this and could really use some help.

Basically whut i am after is something similar to a slashcode site, without the perl and slash.

As I understand you need following code:
index.php:

$result = mysql_query("select id, title from news");
while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result))
{
  echo "<a href=\"detail.php?id=" . $row["id"] . "\">" . $row["title"] . "</a>"
}
mysql_free_result($result);

detail.php:

$result = mysql_query("select text from news where id=" . $_GET["id"]);
$row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result);
echo $row["text"];
mysql_free_result($result);

no queries? i don't think so. but i've come to believe almost anything is possible. if you can think it, someone can do it. especially on this site.

Whut i meant wuz tht i dont have to press a button to make a query, it does it automatically when the page loads, then it displays the info.
