Hiding stuff?

Hi I've written a PHP script that allows me to generate a number and print images of it. using str_replace("number", "<img src=number.JPG>", $var)
Anyways it is no good because it shows the number up in the source and the reason I need the number is to stop automated signups. Any way to stop it showing it in the source...

Oh and by the way I got my webserver set up so if you don't know what I mean connect to me and see the script!

It does exactly the same thing, prints the variable in the source...
