I have access to an MySQL database which is hosted on my universities website ... when i am at uni i connect using "localhost" if i wanted to connect from home when im working on the site, what would i need to do ? and is it possible?

if you uni enable remote access... try replace localhost with your uni's IP address or HOST name...
The Only way is to contact the UNI system Administrator.
Yeah, like ab4net, talk with the sys admin. Any university is going to have a firewall setup.
