keeping options selected?

ok, heres my problem..
i have 2 select boxes.
select box 1 holds product names, for this example we'll say theres 20 options in this select box.
select box 2 holds peoples names, for this example we'll say theres 20 option in this select box also.

what i have the form set up doing now is, when you select a product from the first select box and your name from the second, it uses those 2 names as variables to get information from a certain database. but once i click the submit button to retrieve my info both select boxes reset to the first option. i dont want that. :.

ex. if i select option 8 from both select boxes, i'll get the right information but then bot select boxes will reset back to option 1 in the select boxes.

so my question is, once i click the submit button, is there a way for it to keep persons name as the active selected option in the second select box? the products i'm not to worried about but if its an easy fix, i'll take care of that too?

I've thougth a bad solution, but, maybe it works...
I imagine that there's a loop to print the option in the box,ok?
You can verify, when you wanna to print, if that's the option selected, and in this case put <checked>.
I mean....(i suposse that you do a query to db and rows=number of results, and mi_election is the option choosen)
for ($i=0;$i<rows;$i++)
{
echo "<option ...."
...
if ($i==$mi_election)
{
echo "checked";
}
echo "</option>";
}

it a worst solution, but it'll work, i hope soo...

ok, well here is the loop that im using. is there a way to plug your code in somewhere in my loop without changeing much?

$my_option would be the option checked
(i suposse that $my_option is a number,ok?
if it's a name, you compare the option and the $product)

Router is correct in that you need to set the 'selected' attribute for which ever option was previously selected.

But his code uses $i which may not be quite correct.

You might try something like


// This is the previous selection
$products_selected = $_POST['products'];

	foreach ($a_row as $products)
