Yet another php question

Having no luck at al with my own trials I need to know hwo to work with forums in php, I know the basic stuff but say you have a directory with categoriesand you want a dropdown box of all those categories, how do you put that in a form?

Can you just query the table in the database and make it display the results in the dropdown form? Thats what I've been trying to do.

you sure can. Here's a quick example

   for ($i=0; $i < mysql_num_rows($result); $i++) {

  if ($row_array[0] == "") {
      $row_array=mysql_fetch_row($result);
  } else {
      $string .='<option value="'.$row_array[0].'">'.$row_array[0];
      $row_array=mysql_fetch_row($result);
  }

   }

$string .='</SELECT>';

echo $string;

?>
