traceroute application

Hi all,
need some help and advise. I want to do a traceroute. I am running it as a external command meaning to say system() or something like that....but the thing is I want the O/P print directly to the browser immediately and not stored somewhere wait till the operation finishes then print...have tried using system, pass_thru, popen all this but doesn't seems to work.

Maybe use a java applet?

The way I would do it would probably be

if you send the output to a html file and make the browser refresh every second or so?

You could use the javascript:
setTimeout('document.location=document.location', 6000);

Hope you are on an internal network when you do that...

Oops, it should be

setTimeout('document.location=document.location', 1000);

for a one second interval...

and btw I have no idea how you would make the java applet...
