Checking if File Exists

Im trying to find a function or some way to check if a file exists on
a differant computer.. example: www.somewebsite.com/files/somefile.exe
the file_exists function doesnt seem to work on files that are not
on your computer.. how would u find out if the file is still there?
Im making a script that notifies me if the link is broken... but my files
are on a differant server... PLZ HELP!

You could try to use an fopen() and then test the results.

I was also trying to figure out how to do this, but you cannot scan another person's computer for a file in PHP, though the fopen() is an ingenius idea for doing it, and will actually perform the necessary task for my purposes.
