feeling dumb!

hey there, y'all!

ive seen a similar subject being posted a couple of times before, but im going to ask anyway.

i want a certain part of my site to have links index.php?id=1. the index.php is in the 'artists' directory, and each artist has a id in the database. i can do what i want to do using LOTS of different php files, but its really messy. is there any way of including all the information in one php file?

im sure you understand what im all trying to get at. so far i've attempted this unsuccesfully. im not looking for a code (it would be nice though), more an article that explains it all for me.

if anyone knows of anywhere that would help me, that would be great, cheers.

you are wanting to have something like a bio page for each author? if you have this bio info in the database already associated with their id, it should be a straightforward matter of having your index.php file query that info from the database. some pseudo-code you might have in the index.php:

$query = "select info from table where author_id = '$id'";
$result = db_query($query);
$row = db_fetch_row($result);
echo $row['info'];
