gd2 + truecolor images

I'm not sure is this question answered alreaydy in this forum but I didn't find it so here it goes:

How can I write text (imagettftext) over a truecolor image? I just installed php 4.3 with bundled gd and when I try to write I get 'page not displayed' with IE and segfaults in the log. I know that there is a patch to display text correctly but it's not any use 'cause I get no image at all. Is there something wrong with my installation?

Can someone help me?

I had the same problem with not getting the image to display. What usually helps is a fresh install of php...change the php4ts.dll in your system folder and change the php.ini. Although it seemed as reinstalling my server was the thing that helped, although I can't be too sure about that 🙂

Do you get an image without using imagettftext() ?

Thanks Star_Gazer, but I have a linux server. But what I did to it was a micro$oft-approach to bugs. I didn't correct the actual bug but made some additional code to cope with it. Here's what I did:

create imagehandle from a jpeg-image
create new imagehandle (non-truecolor)
make non-truecolor image transparent
write truetype-text to transparent image
copy new image to the truecolor image

This must do until someone gets a better idea.
