looping a switch function

is it possible to have a while statement within a switch function, so that the cases (of the switch statement are taken directly from a database?

hey there thanks for your reply, but, er... i have no idea what it means.

can i use this code, so that no matter how many entries there are for $var all of them will 'appear' as a case?

If I understand correctly, you can just do your while statement and then use if/thens to deal with the data.

while($row=mysql_fetch_row($result)){
	if($row[1]=="Winter"){
		print("It is cold outside");
	}elseif($row[1]=="Summer"){
		print("Boy is it hot!");
	}else{
		print("It could be nice or cold");
	}
}

If I'm off base, could you give an example of what you're trying to do?

im trying to to create a naviagtion menu thing, for artists. so depending on what artists are entered into the database, the navigation links will change... right?

so, i figured that i need to use the switch function in order to do this (to make it ...index.php?var=me), but obviously the 'cases' are going to be changing depending on the database...

so i guess i need a code to cope with that.

     $artistName=$row[whatever];
     $var=$row[whatever2];
     print("<a href=\"index.php?var=$var\">$artistName</a><br>");
}
