I have an affiliate programme that outputs a banner for any webmasters that signup.

the ref is the username of the webmaster that has signed up I need to be able to recode it so that it outputs ref=AM001 then AM002 for the next who signs up and so on...what would I need to do to change this?

like I said over aim. make an autoincrementing index, then append the AM to it and make is print out proceding 0's in a printf. what happens after webmaster AM999?
