best way to do this:

Take a page and divide records up into sections, such as make of a vehicle, and sorted by year then mileage, each make section divided by a different labeling image.

Example:

Porsche Car1 details listed here.

Porsche Car2 details listed here.

-------=[ Ferrari ]=--------

Ferrari Car1 details listed here.

Ferrari Car2 details listed here.

Would the best way to do this be to to seperate queries for each make section? I'm looking at around 14 makes of cars total giving me 14 queries for one page. Would this be horribly inefficient and bog the system down?

Example psudocode:

porsche.jpg

Select * from database WHERE make = "porsche"
Sort by year, mileage

ferrari.jpg

Select * from database WHERE make = "ferrari"
Sort by year, mileage

Am I on the right track here or is there a better way? Thanks.

The page on the URL you had gave, seems to be so nice. However, you may make 1st page to include a dropdown list to choose the car according to its manufactur or its type or its use etc
in the second page another dropdown menu to choose exact car according to the previous choose. i.e I mean you should things to be as a wizard, in wizard style you will help your customer to think in more organized mannar and you will not make his/her eye be confused with a large amount of cars.

Would sending 14 queries on one page be an overload?

My boss wants the page to stay like it is, so all you have to do is scroll down to view our entire inventory so I really have no choice but to do it this way.

Couple things to try...

Do one query and sort it by the make of car. Then, when you display your results, start a new section when the make of car changes.

Or...Do one query and then use variable variables to concatenate car types together into single strings called $sectionCarType. Like um...

while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($sql_result)){
${"section$CarType"}.="All of the $details, preformatted<br>";
}

Then, after you've got the data for all of your sections already built, print them out...
