fdf and sending to browser

I am looking to make use of FDF and PDF. I have done some testing and am able to send the populated PDF to the browser.
In the end, I do not actually want to send the PDF to the browser but instead want to populate the PDF and then either save it temporarily so it can be downloaded or save it permanently. I do not want to have to look at it first.

Is this possible?
