Informix Connection

I´m trying to connect a php script under linux to a informix database under unix.
My questions are , what do i have to do to make the informix driver work correctly.

have you compiled php with "--with_informix=yes"

Unfortunetely i can´t answer you right now because it wasn´t me who compiled php.

In the meantime - what errors do you get when you try to connect to your informix server?

The error i get is:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: ifx_pconnect() in...
I´m just doing a test.

I think that what i´ve got to do is to install a client informix and then compile php again.
i just want to know where to find some information about how to install client informix and also about the php compilation, because i´m new in this and i will need some additional help about how to do this.

Now i need some help to make this working with php.
