MAIL() function..

I was using php to send mail thru smtp on a linux server. WEll we have moved the site over to windows and i was told the mail() function will not work on there becasue it uses MS exchange?

Is there a way to send mail on a windows server using MS exchange? The server admin said "instantiate some mail-aware COM object and use it. CDONTS for example."

Is there any way to create COM objects with php and send mail thru it? Or is there some other way?

this article talks about using SENDMAIL() with the exhcnage server....easy to do and most mail programs support this method

see the [man]COM[/man] section in the manual

to create a new COM object for mail use

$objMail = new COM("CDONTS.NewMail")

you will have to play around to see about using this for html emails and other functions...
