Ok, so I am new to this php/mysql thing. I recently bought a book on "beginning php4" (Wrox), but I am having some problems.
Firstly, I am unaware to whether I already have PWS and/or IIS on my computer. I have Windows XP (Home edition). I didn't know whether to download, and install PWS or IIS because some sites said that it was not recommened on the Windows XP OS.
I use the free tripod webhost, and I want to create a mysql database so that I can use phpbb, but am do not know how to connect to the myql server. I installed php from php.net, and tried to connect to the server via php.exe, but this didn't work.
I really really need some advice on what to do, because I have no idea.
