parse error, need help

please, i need help with this.

everytime i try to insert or update data in a mysql table field, i receive an error like the following:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in D:\hshome\cpwin\cpwin.bighost.com.br\lala.php on line 52

In that line i put the following:

mysql_query(INSERT INTO totobola VALUES (1234, "Bruno", NOW());

This happens when i copy pre-built sources too. I don't understand.

Can anybody help me?

The sql statement should be enclsoed in double quotes ", and the strings within the sql which are currently using double quotes should be changed to use single quotes '.
