add total from array

Hi all

here's my situation, there are two classes (PE1 & PE2) that offer subject Mathematics for 50 students.
currently, 10 students from PE1 & 7 students from PE2 havent got their marks yet.

Is there any way for me to get the sum of 10 + 7.
How about create an array with the total values from both classess and then add all of it up? but i have no idea to do it..

Please help.

Do you already have PE1 and PE2? If so, there is nothing special you need to do to add 2 variables together.

$PE1=10;
$PE2=7;
$sum=$PE1+$PE2;
print("$sum");
