Paging Question

I have managed to get my results to page, using the LIMIT function in my SQL statement.

I have Next and Prev links, and I have managed to hide the Prev link when on page 0.

What I would like to do now is stop the Next link showing up if there are no more pages. I tried to do a record count but of course it only counts the records on that page.

Can anyone tell me how to get a record count for the whole set?

if you are already posting from the database why not just take a field that always has dat in it and do a if statement
