100% PHP Newbie Looking for Advice.

Hello. My name is Igor, I am a college student in a small community college. My major is Midrange Computer Specialist (basically Networking).

I have just discovered that PHP excists about 10 days ago. I am not someone who can understand programming with ease, I wish I had the mind for it. However I love making websites, and I would love to learn my first language PHP. I am looking for someone who has a beginners PHP book that they might be willing to sell for cheap. It could be done over half.com so that we both know we get what we asked for. I cannot afford to buy any of the books listed on half.com right now, they are out of my price range.

If you are a generous person please help me out, if your not using the book anymore maybe I can buy it. Here is a list of begginer PHP books, but there might be other ones too.

I would suggest that you also hunt down some good tutorials on the 'net - the Articles here on PHP Builder were a great help to me when I was first starting but there are plenty of other places too.

I have a book, which I did read cover to cover but use it as a reference rather than tutorial material.

Another suggestion is to download other people's scripts from places like hotscripts et al and disect them to see how things are done.

Its actually how I started... download a script which did almost what I wanted and then digest the code until I understood what it was doing, at which point I could successfully modify it to do what I wanted it to do. This takes time a patience but is one of the best ways to learn, particularly in conjunction with online tutorials like those at devshed and hotwired.

Okay thanks. I will try what you suggest, but Im not someone who can decipher codes and understand them. I need someone or something to tell me what the hell every turd does. Thank you very much for taking the time to help me. I appreciate people like you guys.
