Lock user in his own directory

I have installed a wu-ftp under linux, and a "test" account has been created, whose home direcory locates at "/home/test/". What I want is to lock him in his own directory when he is uploading and downloading files through FTP client software such as "cuteftp".

Could anyone tell me the steps of locking users in own directory? thank you in advance.

PS: I use pure command line mode of linux, no KDE or GNOME installed.

IIRC wu-ftpd has a history of security problems. I'd recommend proftpd, and if you are really concerned about security, then running it in a chroot environment is the way to go.

If you do use proftpd (advised) you can force all users ftp sessions to be chrooted with this config line:

DefaultRoot ~

I can't remember howto do it on wu-ftpd, I stopped using it after the 20th time I had to update for security reasons, although proftpd also has a checkered history it hasn't had any (publically known) holes for ages and the installation/setup is easy.
