Problems on my server - HELP!

Hi,

I'm having a major problem with PHP. I needed to build a website with a chat room, forum, and other dynamic pages so rather than uploading all pre-made scripts to my hosting service then editing them (which would take a long time - only have 56k modem), i decided to set up a server on my home pc, do all my editing then upload the finished product ready to be used.

I'm using Windows XP Professional with IIS 5.1 and installed MySQL 3.23 and of course PHP 4.2.3. Whenever I try to set anything up theres usually the ocasional line that says: Undefind Variable or Undefind Documnet Root blah blah blah. I think this is why I cannot get anything to work. I only had success with phpBB. nothing else.

What is causing this? Should i use the Apache server instead of IIS maybe? Any help would be appreciated.

don't know too much about php/mysql and iis, i use apache on my win 2k machine, and works just fine

Yeah, already tried that and it works. PHP can output into the webpages no problem, its just this little hickup which is causing some scripts not to work.

post some code and where you think the error is occuring

OK, this is taken from the 8th (!!!) news engine script I have downloaded from hotscripts.com and still can't get any to install or work properly.

Go to your admin panel: Click here

Make sure you delete install.php now => security reasons!
