Problems Adding Arrays into a databasic table

I been trying to add arrays in the database.

$player1 = array("Viper", "Red Team", "55", "14", "45");
$player2 = array("Supaman", "Blue", "4", "14", "66");
$test = array($player1, $player2);
mysql_query("INSERT INTO Score_$halo_nickname (score_data) VALUES ($test));

No luck, it return Array and not the actal data. Anyone can help me?

What a headache! You will want to rethink your design - storing arrays in a table is not a good idea. What is your database design, anyway?

Well, my design that needs to be like

Place, Name, Teams, Score, Kills, Assists, Deaths

So far I have it setup for adding members, edit members, and deleting members. BTW this is for my halo clan. So when they enter their scores in the forms. It will be listing everyone who played in that game, including my member score. So it will display the Place, Name, Teams, Score, Kills, Assists, Deaths. So like

1st, Viper, Red Team, 25, 12, 1, 25
2nd,Supaman, Blue Team, 25, 21, 11
3rd, Wurz, Red Team, 12, 14, 11

kind of like this, have it would have to be in a group because they will be sending more than one score. Like

Game #1

1st, Viper, Red Team, 25, 12, 1, 25
2nd,Supaman, Blue Team, 25, 21, 11
3rd, Wurz, Red Team, 12, 14, 11

Game #2

1st, Supaman, Red Team, 14, 2, 1, 44
2nd, Viper, Blue Team, 22, 11, 10
3rd, Wurz, Red Team, 14, 15, 1

BTW above is just an EX, not real scores eheh.

I hope you understand how the scores works, if you don't I try giving ya a temp link and login and password, so you can see the score sender design. Thanks

Oh BTW, it must be in the member's table that who sended that score.

This can be done without using arrays -
Here's one way to design the database.

member
member_id
{team_id} *
member_name
member_..

if a member can only be in one team, you can put the team id here, otherwise you will need an additional table

team
team_id
team_name

match
match_id
member_id *
match_name
match_date
match_location

*assuming only one player reports the score

team_match
match_id
member_id
score
kills
assists
deaths

'Place' does not need to be stored in the database as it is an aggregate and can be done in the query + php, using order of returned rows to assign place.

--- scores from a particular match
SELECT member_name, team_name, score, kills, assists, deaths
FROM team_match tm
INNER JOIN member m ON (tm.member_id = m.member_id)
INNER JOIN team t ON (m.team_id = t.team_id)
WHERE match_id = $match_id
GROUP BY member_id ORDER BY score DESC;

Um, will that list all the players who played in game #1, game #2, etc...??? Ok where the member info is located in a table call profile, because so they can edit their information such as email address, weapons, etc... So now I am working on getting their score's table. I was thinking like creating their own tables like

Create Table Scores_$halo_nickname (etc....) VALUES (etc..)

but it got to save all the players who played that game, NOTICE: Not all players who play in a game is in my clan. These people are from another clan or just coming to play with us. But by looking at your design, I think I can come up with something that work, or if you got a better idea I would be happy to listen. Oh ya it would be alot of tables if I create one for every member in my clan also.

Yes - that design will allow you to select members in a particular match or all matches. It also gives you flexibilty later on if you want to do something more involved, like generate statistics.

--- scores for all matches
SELECT member_name, team_name, score, kills, assists, deaths
FROM team_match tm
INNER JOIN member m ON (tm.member_id = m.member_id)
INNER JOIN team t ON (m.team_id = t.team_id)
ORDER BY match_id, score DESC;

Creating a table for every member in your clan isn't a good idea. I don't know why you would want to, as the attributes of players are common.

I thought it would just be matches between clans, so having pickup games stored would mean additional tables or just an additional column to team_match. Hmmm...

To clarify my design - player information such as name, email, etc will go into member. New clans get put into team. For a match, you would save rows into match (match info) and team_match (players in match info).

Um, So I have a Profile table and a Score Table and add user ids and score id or something like that. It would work I think. Like

Table Profile (Member_Name, Email_Address, Password)

then table for the score

Table Score (Score_ID, Team, Name, Score, Kills, Assists, Deaths)

this way I can find their scores by looking in the Name and then get the Score_ID to display their scores for all the games that they play. What ya think?

Looks good - i think you need to have a match id in the score table so that you can show results per game.
