HTML showing up instead of links

I've got an issue that I don't know how to correct. It's only showing up for a very, very small percentage of people who view my site. Two have seen some html code on IE6 and one on NN7. Everyone else is seeing the site as it should be. Most people with IE6 are seeing the site fine, btw.

When you enter a zip code, and hit fetch, another page will come up with a listing of businesses in that zip code. Each business name should be listed in a blue bar, under that (in most) is a line of text, a blank line, one or two phone numbers (each on a separate line), another blank line, the email address, and their website URL.

Instead of seeing a list of identical listings on the page, people are getting the first part of the first listing, and then other snippets of the others are showing up. They may see the business name of some of the others, or the email address. Then, rather than seeing the link for the email address and website URL they're getting the actual code for the very last listing on the page. And it's not centered like it should be.

I've tried adding "double quotes" where I have 'single quotes' but I get an error. Like I said, most people see it correctly, even with the same type of browser that's seeing the errors, so I'm really truly baffled. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

i rewrote your code the way i would do it, i like hopping in and out of php, it is easier to keep in my head, and easier to do formatting with html when you aren't echoing it all the time, and no it doesn't take any more time to hop in and out of php

hi as a Newbie to PHP I can't offer any help with this problem but I 've just taken a look at your site using IE6 and found no display faults , "nice site"However I noticed that your contact us link is only to an email address , have you considered adding a feedback form for the millions of work based internet surfers who's company's prohibit them from using their mail system over the web?

i don't believe that </a href> is valid html, but i don't think html really care, it isn't too picky, and it does actually close the <a> tag, but that is when i rewrote his code i took those out

Thanks for the input, folks. I'm thinking (hoping) the </a href> thing was the culprit.

And...thanks for the contact idea. I guess I hadn't thought about people who aren't able to use email. That's a great idea...I think I'll do a form for that!

You have a problem with what you're spitting out from your php variables. Sometimes the variables may have quotes in them and that will offset your code, and therefore, the rest of the code you wrote shows up for the user to see. My answer is: use the addSlashes() function along with htmlentities() to eliminate this error.

echo htmlentities(addSlashes($businessname));

A better way to do this is to have the data pre-escaped and html ready. So, when you're doing data entry, before you insert the data into the database, add the slashes and htmlentities, so when it comes time to send it to the browser, you'll always be OK.
