I thinkthis is a bug but I want to run it by you folks to make sure.
I run php (4.2.3 and 4.3.0) as cgi and have mhash (0.8.16 and 0.8.17). When I use the mhash function I just get garbage. unusable, unprintable. squares, foreigh chars, etc...
For example: echo mhash(MHASH_MD5, "hello"); gives me (This may or may not print)

What gives? anynbody have this problem?
