well i wouldnt have thought theres much point in using MySQL unless the data is actually in MySQL, and i dont know how to do a search on things that arent.
If you were using MySQL to save data, or posts or whatever, then you could easliy use the PHP to seach and display data from the database. Other than that, I dont know what you'd do.
