frikin slashes!

Ok, for the life of me, I can't figure out why I have quotes in my mysql text and longtext fields - magic_quotes_gpc is set to ON on the server, and I dont use addslashes anyplace, but everytime someone puts in a ' , I get /' in the db field.

Any ideas?? I just don't get it... I read everywhere, and googled this to death, and from what I can tell, this should not be happening, right?

and there are plenty more. Magic quotes adds a slash before '

Just do stripslashes($var); before displaying the data.
