how to insert data in this particular situation

hi all, I'm working on a fantasy league management project using php/mysql
I have a table in my DB named "classifica" (position of the teams)
producing 8 rows with position team_name and points
using the normal query it will display 8 rows in this way:

1 WEN 16
2 DIM 14
3 CIO 12
4 PIP 11
5 LOW 8
etc......

how can I display in this different way ???

1 WEN 16 5 LOW 8
2 DIM 14 6 POS 10
3 7

4 8

etc....

Split the result into 2 arrays, let's say $column1 and $column2. Then you just output:

<tr>
<td>$column1[$i]</td>
<td>$column2[$i]</td>
</tr>

but how to do it ??? how can I split the results in 2 arrays ???

I will have a result of 8 rows with team name and points for each row...
i will need to fit the results from 1 to 4 on the left side of the table and the other 4 on thje right side......

Use 2 for loops:

$total = mysql_num_rows($result);

for ($i = 0; $i < $total/2; $i++) {
$array1[] = mysql_fetch_row($result);
}

for ($i = total/2; $i < $total; $i++) {
$array2[] = mysql_fetch_row($result);
}
