Why can't I do this, and how can I

Why are you trying to order the query? All the query is doing is updating a table, not selecting return rows. Also, you'll want a semi-colon at the end, instead of a comma.

$result = "mysql_query($query);

Try that instead.

If you're doing this from a command line, just plug in the query without the backslashes.

Well, I need it to affect only 10 rows!

I tried that and it wouldnt let me, should I do a select then update?

no, the code seems to be okay, you might try removing the limit 0 and see what happens, and if that suit your needs...

if not you need to give us more information about your database structure and your script as we dont know what you want to do
