Hi There,
I know (pretty well) that what I need is a left join, just don't know how to construct it exactly. Thanks in advance for your help.
The problem isn't that complex. I have a table with two fields, category and subcategory. It's BIG -- 394K records and growing.
What I want to find is subcategories that are listed in more than one category:
dog chihuahua
dog irish setter
dog retriever
cat calico
cat persian
cat abyssinian
cat irish setter [in both 'dog' and 'cat' categories]
I need to know, ideally, also how many times they appear in a separate category.
Thank you again, any elaboration on lj's would be helpful, don't see any real scholarly treatises on them from a theory standpoint out there; but for now I really need to solve this.
