php 4.3 GD library doing bad things

Hi all,

I am really sad right now 🙁 and I could really do with some warm, frendly knowledge to lift my spirits.

You see I installed php 4.3 with gd 2.0.11 and the jpeg library 6b (rpm).

Now i have a problem, my jpegs using the ImageCreateFromJPEG and ImageJPEG functions are makeing my jpegs look really bad.

A true colour jpeg when passed through these functions turn the jpeg into a 16 colour mess, and I need help bad!

I uploaded a jpeg so you can see what i mean.

Can anyone help, anyone?

ImageCreateTrueColor() instead of ImageCreate() should fix this problem.

That sort of information should be readly available to people when they install gd 2+

I was pulling my hair out for days, recompiling libjpeg, gd and php.

So thanks largo. You deserve one of those warm fuzzey fellings you get when you really help someone.
