Dreamweaver MX and database

Hello,
I have one question regarding seting up DMX in order to comunicate with
MySQL (or Access 2002) Database. I am interested in working with PHP and DMX.
I supose that's almost the same as when working with ASP. When
it comes to "Testing server" part in Advanced dialog box (DMX)nothing happens (there is no check mark beside the "Testing server" in Application panel. I only got this message:
"HTTP error code 404 File Not Found"
What did I make wrong?
And, because I am in that field still "Newbie" tell me where can I find more great tutorials regarding setting up the simple database and connecting it with DMX? Also, I found PremiumSoft's MySQL Studio (Windows) - Data managment solution program that seems to be very easy to operate. What do you think about it?

Hey ;] I use mysql studio and find it great. I'm kinda new myself (6months). Using studio i can do pretty much everything i need to with only the occasional drop to the command prompt. As for DMX have you configured your site to use a server technology such as php/mysql in the 'site definition' section? This 'turns on' dynamic page functionality.

...yes I turn DTD in PHP and set everything when defining new site. What else can be wrong? Do I have to start MySQl server first and than configure DMX to properly conent with it? I simple get that message "HTTP code error 404 - File not found" when I want to make connection with MySQL server database!

Can you think of any good and comprehensive online tutorial regarding that topic? Or just some simple examples?!

yes you have to have your mysql server up and running with a valid account (login and password) configured before you connect to it with DMX. I'd use mysql studio to test with. Make a connection with that and then you can use it to configure accunts etc. As for your connection problems it all sounds a bit vague. When I can't connect to our mysql server through DMX for some reason I get a different error message. Not a http 404 which is a web server file not found error. As for tutorials try the ones that come with DMX they are pretty comprehensive and take you through setting up a server technology, connecting and making you first page. If not use google, there is ample information out there.

Well, I don't really know exactly how to use the MySQL server and it's components. What username and password do I have to enter and where? Can you please specify it in detail?
How can I test it with MySQL Studio?

p.s. Besides, I have Win XP Professional, IIS 5, MySQL and PHP installed.

run winmysqladmin.exe inside \mysql\bin it will prompt you for a username and password the first time it is executed. this will be your intial mysql account. use these details along with the ip address of the mysql server machine as 'hostname' in mysql studio and you should login fine. before you start make sure mysql is running on your machine, just to check that it installed ok. start -> control panel -> administrative tools -> services. make sure its listed as running ;]

Hi,

I solved my problem regarding connecting DMX with MySQL dB.
But, I've got problems with pictures in dB. Namely, how can I insert the picture into table row in dB and then previw it in DMX?
When previw it in DMX I only see a picture error element (i.e. small "x" displayed) instead a picture.
please help,
