Retrieving Email

I was wondering if anyone knew a way of reading emails from your email account on an apache server. I can read them through a shell by typing mail but i would like a way of accessing my mail through PHP and responding to them automatically. If anyone could help me i would really grateful!

i'm sure there is a piece of code out there that allows your to read you email from an apache server on a webpage.
