Document root

For most people this will be a stupid question, but I really need some help.

I first used IIS but now I've installed apache 2.0.43 and I can't find the document root. Now I see that I have 2 dirs:

C:\apache\httpd-2.0.43
&
C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2

First I thought the document root folder was
C:\apache\httpd-2.0.43\docs\docroot, but when I made a php-page (with the phpinfo() function) I can't see anything.
Then I've tried to change the document root map setting in the httpd.conf file but it doesn't seems to help

Is this strange or am I just stupid??

After you changed your httpd.conf did you restart Apache?

The doc root should be:
C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2 \htdocs\
