strange session warning

I've just upgraded to php 4.3 and now I get this strange warning:

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: read returned less bytes than requested in /Library/WebServer/Documents/op_new/prepend.inc.php

naturally it's followed by the can't "send session cache...." warrning because the first warning message screwed everything up.

My first guess was that there was some sort of warning flag I could turn off but I couldn't find anything so I'm wondering if anyone knows what this message might mean... and possibly how to fix it.

note: I'm running php on a Mac (10.2).... I don't know if that makes a difference but incase it does, now you know.

I would still like to konw what is going on here. But if your someone with this same problem and no one has provided any answers a work around is to store you session information in a database (as appose to a file, which is what I was doing).

it's a something called "Pear Sessions"
