Adding pics to a database

This is a pretty basic question that I cannot seem to resolve. I am basically building a shopping cart/cataloque and need to add pics to the database that match with the product (duh).

So, how's that work? I hate asking such a simple question; but, I can't seem to find the answer.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You have two options.

blob which stores the image itself or

text which has a link to the image.
