A buddy and I are doing some experiments with PHP imagecopyresampled and imagecopyresize. The problem occurs in two ways. One, the quality is not what we hoped for when you scale a very large image (say 1024 x 768) to a small thumb.
The other problem is that the small thumb weighs about 30k when they should only be about 6k or 7k (using photoshop or the like).
Does anyone have any experience working with images like this and could give us some insight how to better resize/resample and compress. We also need to know the best method for quality...
